Bill Hill on Homo Sapiens 1.0

November 9, 2005 · 2 Comments

Bill Hill is a researcher at Microsoft that I had the pleasure of meeting a few years ago. He’s the person I keep quoting when I say that paper won’t be going away anytime soon. Bill thinks a lot about reading… how we as humans read, what’s involved in a great reading experience, and where we ought to go with the whole thing. He recently did a wonderful little three minute video interview on this topic, and on humanity in general. Check it out.

I was really hoping to hear more about the future evolution of reading. It looked like the interview continued on, so perhaps he later spoke in that direction. I’ve got some thoughts on the future of books in my tech blog. I don’t think the form factor is going anywhere, but I do think the methods of interfacing with that form factor will change. These are not new ideas, and I’m quite surprised that I don’t yet have an e-paper magazine or novel on my coffee table.

It’s a bummer Robert Scoble didn’t post more of that video. I’ll post a few more links to Bill Hill stuff. And I’ll check out your blog too.
